Meditation 101 – Breathing, Chanting, Movement and Spiritual
This will be a workshop where you will be learning and then doing three meditation approaches. Many people say they can´t meditate because they can´t sit still, they fall asleep or they don´t have time to do the practice. We will address all of these issues. A practical definition of meditation is any approach that has the mind focused on something besides the normal thought process. The goal is to quiet the mind by focusing on a detailed breathing pattern, chant or movement sequence.
You will learn and do complete breathing, counting breathing, and walking counting breathing. You can make your breath your meditation. Mantra meditation is widely practiced around the world. We will do some chanting in English and in the original Sanskrit. We will be doing the 10 Mindful Movements of Thich Nhat Hahn. It combines breathing with detailed movements.
Finally, we will discuss what you can expect from regular meditation. You will gain some control of your mind, be less stressed, and start to recognize the spiritual information that we all receive. I look forward to meeting you and meditating with you.
